Rafael Leao twist! He is set to join Galatasaray, how much AC Milan will receive.

Earlier this morning, Leao was inclined towards a move to the Premier League, but there has now been a dramatic change of direction: he will play in Turkey.

This morning, the Portugal forward was leaning towards accepting Aston Villa's proposal, with the English club prepared to offer him a net salary of €7.5 million per season. However, after lunch, he changed his mind. His future now appears to be with the Istanbul side, who have reached an agreement both with the player and with AC Milan. Leao has been assured a salary of €12 million plus bonuses until 2030. AC Milan, meanwhile, will receive a fixed fee of €40 million, along with €3 million in bonuses, as well as 20% of any future resale.

Amorim had left him out of the plans.

For some time, it had become increasingly clear that Rafa Leao was heading towards the exit, and Ruben Amorim confirmed as much yesterday during his press conference on the eve of the clash against Venezia: "Leao is a very strong player and, if he is in the right mindset, he can play for any team in the world. Sometimes, in football, there comes a moment when you have to go elsewhere."

Leao joined Milan from Lille in the summer of 2019 and has gone on to make 291 appearances for AC Milan, scoring 80 goals and registering 65 assists. During his time at the club, he won one Serie A title, the 2022 triumph under Pioli, as well as the 2025 Supercoppa with Conceicao in charge.

Leao's book value as of 30 June 2026 stood at €11.2 million. Pending official confirmation of the final figures, the capital gain should be just under €29 million, specifically €28.8 million.
