Finance Minister Sitharaman meets Mondelez COO Luca, discusses company's expansion plans in India

New Delhi, August 29 (IANS). Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met Luca Jaramella, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Mondelez International. During this meeting, both the leaders discussed opportunities to expand the company's production, sourcing, services and exports in India.

According to the information shared by the Finance Ministry on social media platform X, this meeting took place in Chicago, USA. The meeting discussed Mondelez's strong and growing presence in India, its continued investments in manufacturing and infrastructure and opportunities to expand its operations in the country.

Finance Minister Sitharaman welcomed the company's confidence in India and highlighted the country's skilled talent, growing manufacturing capabilities and evolving supply-chain ecosystem.

The Finance Ministry said that these factors provide significant opportunities for global companies to serve both domestic and international markets. The Finance Minister also highlighted the government's continued focus on improving the ease and cost of doing business through regulatory simplification, digitization and better infrastructure.

The ministry said these measures are aimed at enabling global companies to deepen their long-term investments in India.

The meeting comes at a time when India is trying to strengthen its position as a global manufacturing and supply-chain hub and attract more investment from multinationals.

The Finance Ministry said the government's focus on regulatory reforms, digitalization and infrastructure development will help global companies deepen their presence in India and make long-term investments.

In a separate post, the Finance Ministry said Finance Minister Sitharaman met Shield AI co-founder and Chairman Brandon Tseng and discussed the company's engagement with India and opportunities to deepen cooperation in AI-enabled autonomy, unmanned systems and next-generation defense technologies.
