Nottingham Forest are looking to bring in Daniel Munoz from Crystal Palace as part of the club’s significant summer rebuild.

Nottingham Forest are in “advanced talks” with Crystal Palace over a possible move for right-back Daniel Munoz, according to a report by the BBC on Saturday.

Forest appointed former Crystal Palace coach Oliver Glasner this summer, and he is understood to be keen on reuniting with Munoz, one of the notable success stories from his time at Selhurst Park. Munoz has made 109 appearances for Palace and was part of the side that won the FA Cup and the Europa Conference League under Glasner.

“An agreement between the two clubs is now understood to be close as Tuesday’s transfer deadline nears,” the BBC report stated. The proposed transfer is said to be worth “up to £25m.”

Although Palace are reluctant to lose a player who has been an important regular in the starting line-up, they are aware that the 30-year-old wants to leave and has only 2 years remaining on his current contract. That makes this the sensible time financially to sell him.

Nottingham Forest have spent heavily this summer, with the £116m received for Eliot Anderson back in June giving them substantial funds to use in the market.

They drew with Liverpool today and still do not look like a side that has completely clicked yet, but with Glasner now in charge, a strong squad already in place and money available to spend, they appear ready to keep pushing for Europe rather than worrying about relegation in the coming years.

The fact that this move would also weaken a mid-table rival in Crystal Palace while strengthening their own squad makes it an added advantage for Forest.
