Mizoram footballer Lalianzuala Changtey selected as the best Indian footballer of the year 2026

New Delhi, 30 August 2026: Mizoram footballer Lalianzuala Changtey has been selected as the best Indian footballer of the year 2026. 29 year old Chhangte recently left Mumbai Football Club and joined Mohun Bagan.

He received this honor last night from the legendary Indian football player Baichung Bhutia. Organized by the 'Football Players Association of India', this award is decided on the basis of votes of fellow players. Changte had earlier received this honor for the 2023-24 season also.

Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Duhoma congratulated Chhangte. Meanwhile, the Mizoram Football Association termed the achievement as a proud moment and said it will inspire the next generation of Mizo footballers.
