Joshua Zirkzee has been strongly linked with a move away from Manchester United during the summer transfer window.

The Netherlands international has found life difficult since completing his £36.5 million switch to the Premier League, and speculation over a possible exit has continued throughout.

As per a report from the Daily Mail, Atletico Madrid are keen on signing the Manchester United striker, and it remains to be seen whether the Spanish club decide to follow up that interest with a formal offer.

Julian Alvarez has been linked with Arsenal and Barcelona in recent weeks, and Atletico Madrid could look at Zirkzee as a replacement if the South American moves on.

It will be interesting to watch how the situation develops over the coming days. Although he is not a key player for Manchester United at the moment, the club still need greater depth in attack, and allowing the Netherlands international to leave without bringing in a proper replacement would be a mistake.

Benjamin Sesko is still a young player who is adapting to English football. Manchester United cannot depend on him to deliver goals every single week. They need more strength in depth in the attacking department before the transfer window shuts.

From Zirkzee's point of view, the chance to join Atletico Madrid could be a very appealing one. They are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and if they are able to offer him regular game time, the move could suit the player perfectly as well.

The forward will want to get his career back on track by playing regularly again. He is at the peak of his career and will not want to remain on the bench at Manchester United. He showed his quality at Bologna in Italy, and there is little doubt that he could become a very useful option in the right side.
