September begins tomorrow, and with it, several key changes regarding LPG and PNG will come into effect, directly impacting the lives of the common man. These changes include fluctuations in rates, new connection procedures, and e-KYC updates. Typically, the start of the month often sees adjustments in the prices of domestic or commercial cylinders.

On the first of every month, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) revise the prices of 14.2 kg domestic cylinders and 19 kg commercial cylinders. However, price changes for 'free-trade' category cylinders (5 kg and 10 kg) depend on market conditions. Let us take a look at the changes coming into effect tomorrow.

Will gas cylinder prices rise?

Domestic LPG prices remained stable throughout August. However, the price of commercial cylinders dropped by ₹192 to ₹2,738. The situation remained similar in major cities like Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Noida, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, and Thiruvananthapuram. Consequently, ordinary consumers are eagerly awaiting a reduction in domestic cylinder prices. However, we will have to wait until tomorrow, September 1, to know whether domestic gas prices will decrease, increase, or remain unchanged.

Last chance today to complete LPG e-KYC

Oil companies have set August 31, 2026, as the deadline for completing Aadhaar-based biometric e-KYC for LPG connections. If you have not completed the e-KYC process in time, you may face issues regarding subsidies and cylinder supplies starting September 1. You can complete this process online from the comfort of your home or by visiting your gas agency.

PNG Incentive Scheme Launches Tomorrow

The objective of this government scheme is to connect as many cities and towns across the country as possible to the Piped Natural Gas (PNG) network. Under this scheme, consumers opting for new PNG connections can avail themselves of special discounts on registration and security deposits, or benefit from easy installment (EMI) options. Government subsidies and concessions will make it financially more viable for gas distribution companies to lay main pipeline networks in new urban and rural areas.
