Premier League clubs are in a race against time to push deals through before the close of Transfer Deadline Day.

At the time of writing, fewer than 12 hours remain before the window shuts at 11pm BST.

The late rush to complete signings is one of the standout occasions in the English football calendar, and this summer’s final day looks set to be among the busiest in recent memory.

Will it happen or not? Enzo Fernandez’s future has been one of the major talking points of the transfer window in recent weeks, and the speculation grew even stronger after he was left out of Chelsea’s squad for the games against Luton and Brighton.

Manchester City are reported to have opened discussions with the Blues over a possible move that would be worth well in excess of £100 million. It could be a huge day for City, who are also expected to wrap up the signing of Iliman Ndiaye from Everton, with Jack Grealish moving the other way on loan.

With Fernandez potentially on his way out, Chelsea are believed to be close to striking a £52 million agreement with Roma for Manu Kone. However, the transfer faces a significant obstacle, with manager Gian Piero Gasperini firmly opposed to allowing the midfielder to leave.

Roma are, however, hopeful of bringing in Jamie Gittens on loan. The winger made only five Premier League starts last season and could get more regular minutes in the Italian capital.

It looks as though Sunderland have moved ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign Malick Fofana, with reports saying the Black Cats have agreed a fee of £25.7 million plus add-ons with Lyon for the winger.

It is the third wide forward Arsenal have failed to land this summer after Vinicius Junior signed a new contract and Julian Alvarez turned down the chance to leave Atletico Madrid for any side other than Barcelona.

Staying with Arsenal and wingers, Ethan Nwaneri is expected to join Borussia Dortmund on loan. The 19-year-old has had an unusual year; after an eye-catching breakthrough season in 2024/25, he did not start a single league match before being sent on loan to Marseille last January.

If the north London club allow Nwaneri to depart without signing a top-level replacement, supporters will be left asking what the plan is. Arsenal have already sold Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus, while only bringing in Christos Tzolis. That leaves them looking very short in attacking areas.

Richarlison seemed set for an emotional return to Everton, then appeared to be heading to Saudi Arabia, and now it looks as though he will remain at Tottenham.

Everton are now expected to sign USA international Folarin Balogun from Monaco instead, which appears a much more sensible option overall. The 25-year-old striker is entering his prime and is considerably less injury-prone than 29-year-old Richarlison.

The transfer is valued at around £40 million plus a further £5 million in add-ons. Beto will join Fiorentina to make way for Balogun.

Meanwhile, Tim Iroegbunam is set to leave Everton for Hull City in a deal worth up to £22 million. The Merseyside side have also agreed terms to sign former Arsenal player Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Lyon to fill the right-back gap in their squad, and that could bring their interest in Kenny Tete to an end.

Tottenham have reportedly agreed a surprise double swoop for Chelsea duo Tosin Adarabioyo and Mykhailo Mudryk. Tosin is set to join on a permanent transfer, while Mudryk will arrive on loan.

Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez is expected to join Como after Emi Martinez arrived from Aston Villa.

Newcastle are reportedly close to completing a £55 million deal for Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo. The 21-year-old Belgium international is flying into the UK today to finalise the move.

That arrival will open the door for Nick Woltemade to join Juventus on loan, only a year after he joined the Magpies from Stuttgart for a club-record £65 million fee.

There are also reports that Nottingham Forest are preparing a late move for Newcastle winger Jacob Murphy.

Aston Villa have already confirmed the signing of teenager Ibrahim Mbaye from PSG for around £47 million and are expected to bring in a replacement for Ezri Konsa today.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis will join Villa from Southampton for an initial £25 million, with the fee potentially rising to £30 million.

Unai Emery also said on Monday night that Tammy Abraham will not leave Villa before the deadline, as the striker has chosen to stay at the club.
