BPSC TRE 4 Exam 2026: There is welcome news for the lakhs of aspirants dreaming of becoming government teachers in Bihar. The government has acceded to the long-standing demand of candidates to conduct the BPSC TRE-4 exam in a single phase. The state government has decided that the fourth phase of the teacher recruitment exam (TRE-4) will now be held in a single-test format instead of two phases. Bihar's Education Minister, Mithilesh Tiwari, announced this decision.

**Government changes decision after days of protests**
For several days, a large number of aspirants had been staging a sit-in protest at Gardanibagh, Patna, regarding the BPSC, BSSC, and other recruitment exams. The protesting candidates' primary demand was that the TRE-4 exam be conducted via a single test rather than in two phases. After multiple rounds of talks between the government and the aspirants, the demand was finally accepted. The Education Minister stated that the exam format was changed keeping the students' demands in mind, following instructions from the Chief Minister.

**Education Minister explains reason for postponing applications**
The online application process for TRE-4 recruitment was initially scheduled to begin on September 1, 2026, but was postponed at the last minute. Addressing this, Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari stated that the BPSC wishes to prepare for the exam with utmost care and transparency. He noted that the number of aspirants is very high this time; consequently, the Commission requires additional time for exam centers, logistics, and other preparations. Therefore, the dates for applications and the exam have been extended.

**TRE-4 applications likely to start from September 21**
According to a notice issued by the BPSC, the online application process is likely to commence on September 21, 2026, following the release of the revised advertisement for TRE-4 recruitment. The Commission will first make necessary changes to the recruitment rules and the application process. Subsequently, a new notification will be issued inviting applications from candidates.

**What changes will occur in TRE-4 recruitment?**
Under the new system, candidates will no longer have to take two separate exams. The entire recruitment process will proceed based on a single exam. This will provide relief to aspirants regarding both preparation and the examination itself. The Education Minister stated that the government intends for the examination to be conducted in a completely fair and transparent manner. Therefore, no hasty decisions will be made, and new exam dates will be announced only after all necessary arrangements are finalized.

What did student leader Dilip Kumar say?
Student leader Dilip Kumar, who is spearheading the agitation, described the government's decision as a victory for the aspirants. He noted that the government has agreed to several demands following the *Satyagraha* (protest) that began on August 18. According to him, a 'One Candidate, One Result' policy and a single-test system will now be implemented. Additionally, the government has shown a positive stance regarding adherence to the domicile policy and increasing the number of vacancies for teacher recruitment.

Decisions on several demands still pending
Student leaders state that while the government has immediately accepted some demands, other issues are still under consideration. These include the demand to remove negative marking from the BPSC examination. They have clearly stated that if decisions on the remaining demands are not reached within a stipulated timeframe, the aspirants may resume their agitation.

What lies ahead for TRE-4 candidates?
All candidates are now awaiting the new BPSC notification. It is expected that the Commission will soon issue a revised advertisement and commence the application process on September 21. Subsequently, the new exam date and the complete recruitment schedule will also be released.
