Key first-team players from both Barcelona and Real Madrid have been named among the nominees for La Liga’s first Player of the Month prize of the new season.

From Barcelona, it is Raphinha who has earned a spot on the shortlist. Operating from a revamped centre-forward role, the winger has begun the campaign in outstanding fashion, registering five goals and one assist in his opening three appearances.

As for Real Madrid, Jude Bellingham has also been included among the contenders for the August Player of the Month award.

In his first three matches, midfielder Bellingham has carried the form that lit up the World Cup into the Spanish capital, finishing with four direct goal contributions across a series of impressive displays.

Atlético Madrid World Cup winner Álex Baena has likewise been recognised after a strong start to the season, with 3G and 1A, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s explosive beginning at Deportivo La Coruña has also earned acknowledgement.

Completing the five-man shortlist is Deportivo Alavés standout Nahuel Tenaglia.
