Technology Desk: WhatsApp will no longer be limited to just chatting and calling. The company has started a new Bill Payments feature in India. With its help, users will be able to pay many types of bills within WhatsApp. For this, WhatsApp has partnered with Bharat Connect i.e. BBPS Network. Now users will not need to open separate apps for every bill.
Many types of bills and payments can be made through the new feature. These include:

electricity and water bill
gas bill
FASTag recharge
credit card bill
Loan EMI
insurance premium
According to the company, more than 22,722 billers of 30 categories are connected to this service.
Once the feature is available, the ₹ icon will appear on the home screen of WhatsApp. After tapping on it, Payments Home will open. Here users will be able to see information to their bills and payments. Pending bills can also be visible at one place.
step 1: Open WhatsApp and tap on the ₹ icon.
Step 2: Select your bill category and biller.
Step 3: Enter your consumer number or account details.
Step 4: Check the bill amount shown on the screen.
Step 5: Pay through UPI, debit card or credit card.
Step 6: Complete the payment by entering the required PIN or password.
The new feature of WhatsApp will make managing bills easier. Users will also be able to manage multiple connections of the same company. For example, electricity connections for home and office can be kept at one place. You will also get the facility to view old and upcoming bills at one place.
WhatsApp is gradually bringing this feature to the users. If the ₹ icon is not visible in your phone right now, then you will have to wait for a while. The company is rolling it out for Android and iOS users. Users have been advised to use the latest version of WhatsApp.
