Duleep Trophy 2026 Final, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi: Team India’s young explosive batsman Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is currently participating in the prestigious domestic tournament Duleep Trophy. The 15-year-old Vaibhav played a key role in his team East Zone’s success by performing strongly in the quarter-final and semi-final matches. He scored a brilliant 92 runs in the first innings of the semi-final and 40 runs in the second innings.

Now, fans are eagerly awaiting the final of the Duleep Trophy 2026, starting on September 6th, where Vaibhav will once again aim to deliver a stellar innings and win the title. However, news has emerged that Vaibhav may be ruled out of the title. Not only Vaibhav, but the participation of two other Indian players in the final remains uncertain.

Will Vaibhav Suryavanshi and three other star players miss the Duleep Trophy final?

The final of the Duleep Trophy 2026 will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai from Sunday, September 6th to September 10th. In this title match, East Zone, captained by Ishan Kishan, will face South Zone, led by Tilak Varma. Vaibhav Suryavanshi is part of the East Zone team, serving as the team’s star opener and vice-captain. However, Vaibhav may not play in the final. Along with him, Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma may also be eliminated from the title match.

According to a PTI report, the final decision on Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma’s participation in the Duleep Trophy final will be taken by Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir.

Why will Vaibhav Suryavanshi not play in the final?

The Duleep Trophy final will be played in Chennai from September 6th to 10th, while the three-match T20I series between India and Afghanistan will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi from September 13th to 17th. These three players are part of the Indian squad. Therefore, there is not much time between the end of the final and the start of the T20I series. According to reports, Team India will arrive in Delhi on September 9th or 10th, before the T20I series. Therefore, Gambhir will be the final decision on whether these three players will play in the final.

A source told PTI, “The Indian team will arrive in Delhi on September 9 or 10. If the head coach wants the three players to report according to the T20 team’s schedule, then all three cannot play.” The source further added, “But if the head coach wants them to play the final and arrive in Delhi late on September 10, they can do that.” In such a case, all three players could join Team India in Delhi late on September 10.

South Zone gets a big relief before the final

The exclusion of Ishan Kishan and Vaibhav Suryavanshi will be a major blow to East Zone. However, Tilak Varma’s absence will not pose much of a problem for South Zone, as Devdutt Padikkal, KL Rahul, and Mohammed Siraj have been confirmed to play in the final. According to a PTI report, players who are currently free may play in the Duleep Trophy final. Rahul, Siraj, and Padikkal are not part of the Indian team for the T20 series against Afghanistan.

Rahul and Siraj are scheduled to play only in the ODI series against the West Indies, starting September 27th, while Padikkal is not even part of the ODI squad. He could also be tried in the India A series later. These three players last played a competitive match on August 27th. Therefore, these players will have a good opportunity to regain their form in the final.
