  • Cashews – 8 to 10
  • Sugar- 1 cup
  • Water- 1/2 cup
  • Green cardamom powder- 1/2 tsp
  • Desi Ghee- 1 tsp
  • Almonds and pistachios – 2 tbsp

How to make peanut barfi?

roast peanuts

First of all, put peanuts in a heavy bottom pan and dry roast them on low flame for about 7 to 8 minutes. When the peanut shells start coming out easily, turn off the gas.

remove peels

Place the roasted peanuts in a clean cloth and rub it gently. With this the peanut peels will be easily separated.

grind peanuts and cashews

Now add peeled peanuts and cashews in the mixer. Instead of grinding continuously, run it on pulse mode for 2 to 3 seconds. Take care not to make peanut paste. Filter the prepared mixture through a sieve.

prepare syrup

Put sugar and half cup of water in a pan and cook on medium flame. After the sugar dissolves completely, cook it until one string of syrup is ready.

cook the mixture

When the syrup is ready, reduce the gas flame. Add peanut-cashew powder, cardamom powder and one spoon desi ghee in it. Keep stirring the mixture continuously so that there are no lumps in it.

set barfi

Cook the mixture on low flame for about 3 to 4 minutes. When it starts leaving the bottom of the pan and starts gathering at one place, turn off the gas. Now apply a little ghee in a plate or barfi tray and pour the prepared mixture into it and spread it well. Add chopped almonds and pistachios on top and press gently.

cut and enjoy

Let the barfi cool for about 20 to 30 minutes. When it sets well, cut it into desired shapes with the help of a knife.

Delicious peanut barfi is ready. Offer it to Kanha on Janmashtami and enjoy this easy sweet with the family.
