Anti Terror Operation: Security forces have achieved major success in the ongoing operation against terrorism in the Yusmarg area of Budgam district of central Kashmir for the last two days. Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police killed a terrorist under Operation Ashdar conducted in the inaccessible hilly area of Ashdar Gali. The killed terrorist has been identified as Yasir. He was a citizen of Pakistan and is said to be associated with the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba.
According to security forces, an AK-47 rifle and other war material has been recovered from the possession of the slain terrorist. After his identity came to light, security agencies are gathering other information to his terrorist network, associates and his activities in the area.
According to the Army’s Chinar Corps, based on accurate intelligence, a joint operation was launched to search for terrorists in Asdar Gali area. This area can be reached after a difficult trek of about eight hours from Dudhpathri of Yusmarg.
Teams of 53 Rashtriya Rifles of the Army, 10 Para Commandos, CRPF and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police were busy searching for terrorists in the area since Wednesday. After suspicious activities were noticed in the forest on Thursday, security forces warned the terrorists to surrender. In response to this the terrorists started firing.
After this, the security forces also took charge and retaliated. There was a fierce firing between the two sides, after which the terrorists hid in the dense forest. Due to the darkness of the night and low visibility, the security forces cordoned off the area and sealed the possible exit routes of the terrorists.
After light on Friday morning, security forces again intensified the search operation. During this encounter, a terrorist was killed. Kashmir Zone IGP Sujit Kumar also reached near the encounter site and took stock of the operation.
According to security sources, there is a possibility of four to five terrorists still hiding in the area. It is feared that this group of terrorists was trying to move towards South Kashmir through the high hills of Pir Panjal.
In view of the possibility of presence of other terrorists in this inaccessible area with dense forest, natural caves and steep rocks, the security forces have intensified the search operation. Sniffer dogs and modern equipment are also being used to search for terrorists.
Security agencies are constantly keeping an eye on the terrorist networks operating in the area and their helpers. The network of slain terrorist Yasir and his local contacts are also being investigated. Officials believe that after the completion of the operation, more information may emerge about the terrorist group operating in the area.
Army Commander, Northern Command, Lieutenant General Prateek Sharma praised the quick and precise action of Chinar Corps to kill the terrorist in Asdar Gali area. Northern Command posted on social media platform X that it is fully committed to making Jammu and Kashmir terrorism free.
