Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal was made to sit out group training with the rest of the club’s first-team squad on Saturday morning, but manager Hansi Flick has since insisted there is no reason for worry.

Barca are set to return to action on Sunday. After opening the defence of their La Liga title with three straight wins, the Blaugrana are scheduled to travel to Mestalla for a meeting with Valencia.

Flick and his staff go into the match knowing that, following Real Madrid’s loss to Real Betis on Friday, another three points would allow them to establish an early lead at the top of the Spanish top-flight standings.

On Saturday morning, Barcelona’s players carried out their final preparations for the contest at the Ciutat Esportiva.

As reported by Diario AS, however, the aforementioned Lamine Yamal did not take part in the group drills and instead completed an individual session in the gym.

Speaking to reporters during his pre-match press conference, Hansi Flick was therefore asked about the availability of his young winger for the Valencia game. The German coach explained:

“He had a knock and it was better for him to train at a reduced pace. He went out to train later. He’s perfectly fine for tomorrow.”
