Lucknow: Crackdown is now being tightened against illegal construction and illegal plotting under the direct supervision of the highest court of the country i.e. the Supreme Court, and in this sequence, on Saturday, a six-member special team of Amicus Curiae nominated by the Supreme Court took stock of the ground reality by visiting several major areas of Lucknow. Eminent professors from IIT Delhi were also specially included in this high level investigation team, who closely verified the sealing and demolition action taken so far by Lucknow Development Authority (LDA). This entire administrative and judicial step has been taken very quickly after the recent massive fire in an illegal commercial complex built on a residential plot in Aliganj area, which has created a huge panic among the illegal builders. Supreme Court and LDA in action after Aliganj fire The team of amicus curiae nominated by the Supreme Court first started its important investigation from the sensitive Aliganj area, where the terrible fire on June 22 had shaken the entire city and the dark truth of commercial constructions flouting residential land use rules had come to light. The team strictly verified which illegal commercial buildings the administration had taken sealing and demolition action on after the accident. Meanwhile, the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) had already clearly shared the information before the Supreme Court that within the Aliganj area alone, a total of 51 illegal commercial constructions have been identified violating the norms of residential land-use, on which the work of running bulldozers and tightening the legal screws is going on on a war footing. On this tragic incident of Aliganj, the Supreme Court had taken a very strong and strict stance and through Amicus Curiae had issued clear instructions to conduct a physical survey of illegal constructions not only in this area but also in all other zones of Lucknow, so that any such major human tragedy in future can be completely prevented. Steps of the investigation team reached Gomti Nagar Extension and Wellness City: After Aliganj, this special amicus curiae team of the Supreme Court proceeded directly towards Saraswan area of ​​Gomti Nagar Extension, where the illegal constructions which were demolished with full strictness by the administration just behind the police headquarters were inspected on the spot. After this, the team also visited Wellness City, which is considered to be another big center of illegal construction and indiscriminate illegal plotting, and here each file of the swift action taken by the LDA and the ground situation were compared. During the entire inspection process, Lucknow Development Authority's Additional Secretary CP Tripathi and Gyanendra Verma and all the concerned zonal officers and engineers remained present on the spot with full alertness so that factual details to each illegal project could be provided to the team. This entire strict action is directly to the main hearing of the much talked about 'Lokanathan vs. Tamil Nadu State Government' case going on in the Supreme Court of the country, in which the Supreme Court has taken extremely seriously the cases of illegal constructions and violation of rules that are flourishing in all the big cities of the country including Lucknow and has sought answers from the concerned development authorities and state governments. Detailed survey report will be submitted to the Supreme Court. After completing the on-site inspection and physical verification of the ongoing action against illegal construction, unauthorized commercial premises and illegal plotting in various areas of Lucknow, this six-member amicus curiae team is now busy in preparing a detailed and comprehensive report. This final report will be presented directly before the highest court of the country i.e. the Supreme Court, on the basis of which there is every possibility that the Lucknow Development Authority and other local bodies will get even more stringent guidelines in the future. With this entire action, a clear message has been sent to the land mafias and illegal builders of the city that now those who ignore the rules will not be spared at any cost and along with the administration, the judiciary is also completely serious about the security of the city. After the filing of this report in the Supreme Court, the urban planning and anti-illegal construction campaigns of Lucknow are expected to gain further momentum.
