Atlético Madrid made an ideal start to their 2026/27 Champions League campaign by scoring early at Anfield.
Although Liverpool applied pressure in the opening stages, Atlético weathered it and caught the Reds out with a slick counter-attacking move.
Marcos Llorente finished the move calmly and, in doing so, extended his outstanding personal record against Liverpool.
Remarkably, the Spain international has scored only 10 goals in the Champions League, with five of them coming against Liverpool.
The question now is whether the LaLiga side can hold on for their first win at Anfield since 2020, a match in which Llorente also got on the scoresheet.
