The 3-match T20 series between India and Afghanistan is starting from September 13. Before this, Team India has suffered a big setback. Fast bowler Harshit Rana, who is suffering from hamstring injury, has been ruled out of this series. According to reports, Harshit has suffered a new injury during his rehab at the Center of Excellence (CoE), due to which his return will now be delayed. There is doubt about Harshit playing in the Asian Games also.

Might be out of Asian Games too

Harshit has been out of action since the third T20 against England. This 24-year-old pace bowling all-rounder was included in the team for the Afghanistan series but he had to prove his fitness. He was on his way back. But there are reports that he has not suffered any injury in CoE. It is not known what kind of injury this is. It has become difficult for Harshit to play in the Asian Games 2026 also.

The Indian team will start its campaign in the Asian Games to be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan on September 28. There is still a lot of time left but the team management would not like to be hasty regarding Harshit. Harshit was sent on tour to Ireland and England after knee surgery. When he got injured after bowling only 4 matches, questions were raised whether this fast bowler was not completely fit? Or was his complete fitness report not with the team management? This time, instead of taking risks with Harshit, the Indian team can wait for his complete recovery.

What is the update on Reddy-Sundar's fitness?

Updates have also come out on the fitness of Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar. Both these young all-rounders may be available for the Afghanistan series. Reddy is scheduled to fly to Delhi on Thursday (September 10) after taking fitness clearance from CoE. He has recovered from quadriceps injury. Sundar has also recovered from hamstring injury. Senior fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is scheduled to undergo fitness test on Thursday.
