Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison has reportedly taken his case to FIFA in a dramatic effort to bring the final year of his contract to an end. The Brazil international wants an immediate departure from north London after being unexpectedly left out of the club's 25-man Premier League squad and then pushed down to the Under-21s, opening the door to a possible move back to Brazil.

Richarlison is now actively examining legal options through FIFA to cancel his existing deal at Tottenham Hotspur, according to talkSPORT. The 29-year-old was omitted from the club's 25-man Premier League squad for the season and is presently training with the Under-21 side.

The Brazil international feels that this demotion gives him valid grounds to terminate his contract, even though he still has one year left on the agreement. After starting Tottenham's opening-day defeat away to Brentford, that match may now prove to be his last appearance for the club as he pushes for an immediate exit.

Before looking at a return to Brazil with Vasco da Gama, the forward had been strongly linked with a move back to Everton during the summer transfer window. He enjoyed a productive four-year stint on Merseyside, scoring 53 goals in 152 matches, but in the end turned down the opportunity to reunite with David Moyes.

Instead, he issued a statement on social media in which he described Everton as his favourite team while also criticising Tottenham's handling of the talks. Across all competitions, Richarlison has scored 32 goals in 134 appearances for Tottenham, but that spell now seems to be heading towards an abrupt conclusion.

Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan responded strongly to the development on talkSPORT, warning that the case could create a dangerous precedent in football. Jordan questioned the player's position, saying: "He's been demoted now to the Under-21s, hasn't he? What they'll be citing is some degree of sporting chance that enables him to have his contract [ripped up]. I think it would be tragic if they did, because it means that players could do as they want. They can be dreadful and have no consequence, they can have dreadful discipline, and dreadful behaviour and have no consequence behind it."

Looking ahead, Richarlison is reportedly aiming to follow the example of fellow Brazilian Renan Lodi, who successfully used FIFA intervention to end his Al Hilal contract last year. If football's governing body rules in his favour, the forward could formally join Vasco da Gama even outside the transfer window. Tottenham must now decide whether to contest the case or work towards a mutual termination in order to avoid a lengthy legal dispute.
