India – September 10, 2026: The group stage of fourth season of the Global Chess League (GCL), a joint initiative of Tech Mahindra and FIDE, in Bengaluru is heading to a nail-biting finale with just one game point separating the top three teams with just two rounds left to play.

Defending champions Alpine APL Pipers , FYERS American Gambits and Ganges Grandmasters now have 15 Match Points after 8 rounds with the first two slight ahead with 73 Game Points while the Grandmasters on 72.

Pipers and Grandmasters had a chance of taking sole lead on Thursday as they were scheduled to play two matches each.

Ganges Grandmasters began the day with a convincing 12-4 win over the Alpine APL Pipers with black pieces but went down 13-5 in the last game against the American Gambits.
