Sabah's first-ever Champions League match was always going to be a landmark occasion.

The reigning Azerbaijani champions stepped into Europe's top club competition with a high-profile clash against Manchester United on Thursday.

Valdas Dambrauskas' team suffered a 4-0 thrashing at Old Trafford, but still succeeded in writing their name into the competition's record books.

The Owls named a starting XI featuring 11 different nationalities — something no club had ever done in its debut match in the Champions League.

That is quite an achievement for a side that was founded only nine years ago.
