The top two sides in the Eastern Conference resume their growing rivalry as Inter Miami CF host Supporters' Shield leaders Nashville SC in Matchday 26's Walmart Saturday Showdown.

Inter Miami recorded their second consecutive draw on Wednesday night, settling for a 1-1 result away to Chicago Fire FC in front of a record attendance of 63,094 at Soldier Field.

High-profile summer arrival Casemiro struck his third goal in as many matches to cancel out Robert Lewandowski's opener, extending the Herons' unbeaten run to three games.

Players to watch

Lionel Messi: With a league-leading 31 goal contributions (18g/13a), Messi is chasing a third straight Landon Donovan MLS MVP award.

Luis Suárez: The iconic Uruguayan forward (12g/8a) has reached double figures for goals in each of his three seasons with the Herons.

With the league's best player in Messi spearheading the league's top attack, which has produced 59 goals, Miami appear well placed to push for the first back-to-back MLS Cups since the LA Galaxy in 2011-12.

That said, with a nine-point deficit to Nashville in the table, the Supporters' Shield may already be beyond their reach.

Even so, motivation will be extremely high for the Herons, who will be eager to respond to last month's 4-1 defeat and their earlier Concacaf Champions Cup elimination, while also damaging Nashville's bid to surpass Miami's single-season points record of 74.

Last game

Nashville went into Wednesday's trip to Toronto FC on a six-match unbeaten run, but that sequence ended with a 2-1 defeat at BMO Field.

The Coyotes benefited from an early own goal by Niklas Dorsch, but the home side came back through late strikes from Dániel Sallói and Emilio Aristizábal, with the latter scoring in the 93rd minute.

Brian Schwake: Schwake is enjoying a breakthrough season as Nashville's first-choice goalkeeper, earning an All-Star selection and generating considerable USMNT attention.

Nashville are still operating at a record-setting points pace despite the recent loss in Toronto.

The Coyotes could also soon become the first team to secure a place in the Audi 2026 MLS Cup Playoffs.

Everything is in place for Nashville to produce another statement display in what has already been a historic season and complete a season sweep over their rivals.

Inter Miami are strong favourites at home with 51% of the market, compared to 28% for Nashville.
