Big news has emerged for young people seeking jobs in the banking sector. The State Bank of India (SBI) is set to recruit approximately 12,000 new employees. Bank Chairman CS Setty has indicated that recruitment for around 11,000 to 12,000 new employees across the clerk and officer cadres is likely. This figure may vary depending on employee retirements and the bank's operational requirements. The Chairman stated that the recruitment process is expected to be completed by the end of the current financial year.

**Recruitment Drives Held Last Year Too**
As the country's largest public sector bank, SBI is a dream employer for lakhs of young people. The annual recruitment drives are eagerly awaited, attracting a large number of applications. Last year, SBI conducted large-scale recruitment, including the hiring of approximately 1,500 IT experts. A massive recruitment drive is expected again this year.

**Workforce Exceeds 2.45 Lakh**
The total workforce at the State Bank of India has surpassed 2.45 lakh. According to the bank's annual report, SBI recruited a total of 25,633 individuals during the 2025-26 financial year. This figure included 4,640 officers, 19,340 associates (clerks), and 1,653 contractual employees.

**Network Expansion Underway**
Alongside workforce expansion, the State Bank of India is also expanding its overall network. The bank aims to add approximately 200 to 250 new branches in the 2026-27 financial year. While the bank already has a presence in numerous cities—both large and small—it is now extending its reach to areas witnessing the development of new residential colonies and rising commercial activity.
