New Delhi, 11 September 2026: Before the BRICS summit, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar welcomed Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira in New Delhi today. In the social media post, Dr. Jaishankar had said that both the leaders had discussed bilateral relations. Ways to increase cooperation in areas like trade and investment, defence, energy, agriculture and space were discussed.
Dr. Jaishankar had said that multilateral cooperation was also discussed by the United Nations, G20 and International Maritime Organization. Both the ministers presented their views regarding the current geo-political situation.
Dr. Jaishankar had said that the BRICS summit is important to advance dialogue and cooperation among the member countries.
Dr. Jaishankar also met with Uruguayan Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin. He said that there was a fruitful discussion between the two leaders on taking forward bilateral relations in areas like trade, connectivity and culture. Dr. Jaishankar praised Uruguay's support in strengthening partnerships with CELAC and MERCOSUR. He also accepted the instrument of ratification for Uruguay to join the 'International Solar Alliance'.
