Jaipur: The picture of the results of the Municipal Corporation elections in Rajasthan's capital Jaipur now seems to be completely clear. In the counting of votes that started after the voting held on September 11, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) maintained its strong lead from the initial phase and proved its hold at the civic level. In this electoral battle, a total of 723 candidates had contested for 150 wards of Jaipur, after which the eyes of the entire city were fixed on these results. The State Election Commission is making the official announcement of the results in a phased manner.

According to the State Election Commission, the results of 139 wards have been declared. BJP performed brilliantly and won 75 wards, while Congress got 50 seats.
Whereas, independent candidates were victorious in 14 wards. In Jaipur Municipal Corporation area, BJP has won 69 wards, Congress 50 and other candidates have won 11 wards.

In this election of Jaipur Municipal Corporation, more than 24.23 lakh voters have decided the future of their ward representatives. To make the election process transparent and smooth, 2,256 polling stations were set up across the city by the Commission, out of which 652 polling stations were declared sensitive. A total of 63.55 percent votes were cast this time.
Keeping in mind gender equality in the elections, out of total 150 wards, 50 wards were reserved for women. Talking about electoral equations, there was a direct contest between BJP and Congress in 16 wards, while there were 4 wards where there was a close contest between more than 10 candidates.

Preparation for mayor elections

With the results of ward councilors becoming clear, the process of election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor in Jaipur will be started soon. After the announcement of election results, the police and local administration are on full alert to maintain law and order in the city. In compliance with the Model Code of Conduct and peace and order, no victorious candidate has been allowed to celebrate the victory or take out a victory procession-rally. The administration has clearly warned that strict legal action will be taken against those who violate the rules.
