Brazil striker wants to leave north London.

Roberto De Zerbi will leave out unsettled striker Richarlison from his squad when Tottenham face Liverpool in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

The Brazil forward is available to feature in the competition even though he was omitted from Spurs’ Premier League squad earlier this month.

However, De Zerbi has confirmed that he will not take the attacker for the trip to Anfield, despite Tottenham’s urgent need for goals after back-to-back goalless draws against Nottingham Forest and Everton.

“Richarlison, you already know everything, nothing has changed for the Carabao Cup or Premier League. The situation is the same (he will not be involved),” De Zerbi said on Monday.

Richarlison has made it clear that he wants to leave the club and, during the summer transfer window, rejected a contract extension as he tried to push through a move away.

De Zerbi had wanted to retain Spurs’ leading scorer from last season, but made it clear that he would not block any player who wished to depart.

In the closing days of the transfer window, both sides attempted to find a solution for his exit, but no transfer was completed, leaving Richarlison in limbo and outside De Zerbi’s plans.

The 29-year-old was present as Spurs were held to a 0-0 home draw by his former club Everton at the weekend.

Tottenham had been in discussions with Everton over a possible deal in the final days of the Premier League transfer window, but the switch collapsed after Richarlison was unable to agree personal terms.

Richarlison encountered similar problems first with Turkish club Trabzonspor and then with Brazilian side Vasco Da Gama, and De Zerbi said there was nothing further he could do after failing in his efforts to persuade the forward to remain.

“I said last press conference, I know what happened in the last 45 days. It's not right if I explain. It's not my behaviour,” De Zerbi continued.

“It is the relationship and the problem is with the player and the club. I spoke with him many times to convince him to stay and he didn't want to. I can't go [about] every day to pray for him to stay.”
