CBSE has released the new exam dates for CTET. The exam will now be conducted on December 12 and 13. Previously, the CTET December session exam was proposed for September 6.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the new dates for the 22nd edition of CTET. The exam will now take place on December 12 and 13. Earlier, the schedule for the CTET December session had been altered, with the exam initially proposed for September 6. Following the notice issued by CBSE, candidates who applied for the September 2026 session can now prepare according to the revised schedule. The exam will be conducted by CBSE in offline mode.

Exam to be Held on December 12 and 13

The CTET 2026 exam is scheduled for December 12 and 13. Candidates are advised to keep a close watch on the official CTET portal for essential information regarding the exam. Details concerning the exam city and date will be released at least 15 days prior to the exam. Meanwhile, admit cards containing full details of the exam center will be made available for download two days before the exam.

Why Was the Exam Postponed?

Initially, CBSE was scheduled to conduct the CTET 2026 exam on September 6, 2026. However, the application process was reopened following a Supreme Court directive, giving eligible candidates who had missed the earlier deadline an opportunity to apply between August 25 and September 1. Due to the increased number of applicants resulting from this new phase and administrative considerations, the board had to postpone the exam beyond September.

CTET Exam to Consist of Two Papers

CTET comprises two separate papers, and candidates select the paper based on the class level for which they wish to obtain teacher eligibility certification. Paper 1 is for candidates aspiring to teach classes 1 to 5, while Paper 2 is conducted to determine eligibility for teaching classes 6 to 8. Each paper consists of 150 questions carrying a total of 150 marks. The duration of the exam is 2 hours and 30 minutes, and both papers comprise five sections.

What is the qualifying score for CTET?

To qualify for CTET, general category candidates must secure a minimum of 90 marks, whereas candidates belonging to SC and ST categories need to score 82 marks. Candidates appearing for the exam must prepare according to the specific paper and teaching level they have chosen.

When will the admit card be available?

According to the revised schedule, the exam will now be held on December 12 and 13. Information regarding the exam city and admit card is expected to be released 15 days prior to the examination; specifically, the exam city details may be announced on November 27 or 28, and the admit card could be issued around December 10—just two days before the exam.
