AC Milan and Lazio, two of the six teams still unbeaten in Serie A so far, face each other in their next fixture on Saturday at the Stadio Olimpico.

Lazio are dealing with a major squad crisis ahead of tonight’s contest at the Stadio Olimpico, leaving manager Gennaro Gattuso to work with a significantly weakened group.

The Biancocelesti will be without a number of important first-team players because of a lengthy injury list, including Patric, Adam Marusic, Danilo Cataldi, Nicolo Rovella, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Luca Pellegrini and Alessio Furlanetto.

There was better news for the home side, however, as star striker Andrea Pinamonti returned to full training after recovering from the painful ankle knock he suffered against Udinese, making him available to lead the line from the start.

In addition, new defensive recruit Diogo Leite has been declared fit and will provide an option on the bench.

AC Milan travel to Rome in much better condition, with manager Ruben Amorim having an almost full squad available as his side aim to maintain their strong run.

The Rossoneri are set to be without only centre-back Mattia Gabbia and midfielder Warren Bondo, both of whom are still sidelined with injuries.

Former Lazio defender Mario Gila has been coping with an ongoing knee problem, but he is expected to play through the discomfort and marshal the defence.

Further forward, American star Christian Pulisic has completely recovered from a minor muscular issue, though Amorim suggested he will be careful with him, particularly with youngster Alphadjo Cisse pushing for another start after scoring against Juventus.

With Luka Modric and Adrien Rabiot providing the base of the tactical system, Milan’s starting side remains largely settled, giving the manager the chance to reintroduce returning players gradually from the bench.

Lazio have made a perfect start to their Serie A campaign, taking the full nine points from their opening three matches. Gennaro Gattuso’s men began with efficient 1-0 wins over Bologna and Genoa, before battling to a 2-1 away victory against Udinese just before the international break. Having conceded only one league goal so far, their defensive strength has been the key platform behind their strong early-season form despite the current issues in the backline.

AC Milan also remain unbeaten and dangerous, having collected seven points from the nine available. The Rossoneri opened with a 2-1 win over Torino, then followed it up with an impressive 2-0 clean-sheet victory against Venezia at San Siro. In their final game before the break, Ruben Amorim’s side earned a tense 1-1 draw against Juventus thanks to an Alphadjo Cisse goal. They now head into this match determined to break down Lazio’s stubborn defence tonight.
