Haldwani, Read: Players from Uttarakhand performed brilliantly and won the overall champion trophy in the 15th National Vovinam Championship held from 3rd to 6th September at Bhagwati Nagar Indoor Stadium, Jammu. About one thousand players from 25 states participated in the competition. The 110-member contingent from Uttarakhand stood first with 223 points, winning a total of 71 medals including 28 gold, 20 silver and 23 bronze.

Players from Nainital district also played an important role in this historic achievement of Uttarakhand. Vinod Lakhera, general secretary of Vovinam Association of Uttarakhand, said that the state team included 93 players and 17 officials. He said that this time the players of Nainital performed brilliantly and won a large number of medals and brought glory to the entire state along with the district.

He congratulated all the medal winning players, their parents and coaches for this achievement.

Jammu and Kashmir Association organized the event

The championship was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Association under the direction of Vovinam Association of India President Praveen Garg and General Secretary Shankar Mahabale.

Vovinam Association Uttarakhand President Rishipal Bharti, Technical Director Devendra Singh Rawat, MP Ajay Bhatt, Uttarakhand State Sports Council President Kuldeep Butola, Rasika Siddiqui, Mohan Pathak, Kishore Joshi, DSO Nirmala Pant and other association officials congratulated the players and the entire team on becoming the champion of Uttarakhand.

Nainital's medal winners brought glory to the state

Players from Nainital district also performed brilliantly in the competition. Those who won gold medals included Aryan Kumar Tamta, Dhairya Bhadana, Manas Dalakoti, Siddharth Joshi, Lakshya Adhikari, Arya Bahte, Sagar Singh Adhikari, Siddharth Singh, Meet Davrani, Karuna Lakhera, Palak Bulotia, Sunanda Rawat, Yashika Bisht, Babita Adhikari, Aparajita Srivastava, Bhumi Mann and Bhavika Treha.

Silver medals were won by Nikunj Singh Rawat, Mohit Mehta, Vibhor Bhatt, Riddhima Narwal, Kumkum Bisht, Nikita Sati, Priyanshi Tamta and Kritika Rawat.

Those who won bronze medals included Ashank Aggarwal, Piyush Chandra Arya, Priyanshu Arya, Abhyudaya Sharma, Aditya Manchwari, Kartik Sanwal, Gayatri Singh, Ambika, Anjali Jangpangi, Ira Badoni, Yachna Tamta, Ishita, Vishakha Rajput, Rita Arya and Bhumika.
