Honor Magic V Flip is Honor’s first foldable smartphone to be launched in China. As expected after numerous leaks and rumors, the foldable phone features a large 4-inch external display, which is almost the largest in the foldable segment.
It has a 6.8-inch internal display and is powered by Qualcomm’s slightly older 1st generation Snapdragon 8+ chipset. The Honor Magic V Flip features a camera cutout on the left side of the main screen. It has a 4800mAh internal battery that supports 66W charging.
The Honor Magic V Flip is priced at CNY 4,999 (roughly Rs. 57,000) for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. The 12GB + 512GB model is priced at CNY 5,499 (approximately Rs. 64,000) and the 12GB + 1TB model is priced at CNY 5,999 (approximately Rs. 70,000). It is available in Camellia White, Champagne Pink and Iris Black.
Honor is also selling the premium Magic V Flip Haute Couture Edition with customization options priced at CNY 6,999 (approximately Rs. 80,000) for the 16GB + 1TB version. Comes with a small bag, individual gift box and Zhou Yangjie’s gold foil signature.
All models are currently available for pre-order in China and are scheduled to go on sale from June 21st. The brand has not yet announced whether the new device will be available outside of China.
Honor Magic V Flip Dual SIM (Nano) runs on MagicOS 8.0 based on Android 14. It features a 6.8-inch Full HD+ (1080 x 2520 pixels) LTPO OLED display with a 21:9 aspect ratio and 120 Hz. Adaptive refresh rate and maximum brightness of 3000 nits. Dolby Vision certified displays offer ultra-high frequency 3840 Hz PWM lighting.
The 4-inch LTPO OLED cover display (1200 x 1092 pixels) is one of the highlights of the new device and supports more than 40 applications. There is a camera design in the lower left corner of the external display.
The Honor Magic V Flip is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC paired with 16GB of RAM. The same chipset powers the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 2022.
As for optics, the new device features a dual primary camera of 50MP with f/1.9 aperture with support for optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 12MP ultra-wide macro camera with f/2.2 aperture for selfies and video chat.
Honor Magic V Flip is available in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB variants. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS/A-GPS, NFC, OTG and USB Type-C port. It has two speakers and three microphones.
Internal sensors include accelerometer, compass, gyroscope sensor, gravity sensor and proximity light sensor. The phone also has a fingerprint sensor on the side for authentication.
Honor has provided the Honor Magic V Flip with a 4,800mAh battery that supports 66W fast charging. In addition, the battery should be able to be charged from zero to 100 percent in just 42 minutes.
The dimensions of the phone are 167.3 x 75.6 x 7.15 mm unfolded and 86.5 x 75.6 mm x 14.89 mm unfolded. Its weight is 193 grams.
