Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with great joy all over India. Lord Ganesha loves modaks, and modaks are specially prepared to offer to him on this occasion. Modaks are not only delicious, but the process of making them is also very simple. Let's find out how you can easily make traditional and delicious modaks at home on Ganesh Chaturthi.

Material:

For the outer layer:

– 1 cup rice flour

– 1 cup water

– 1 tsp ghee

– a pinch of salt

for the stuffing:

– 1 cup grated coconut

– 1/2 cup jaggery (grated)

– 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder

– 1 teaspoon poppy seeds (optional)

– 1 tsp ghee

Method of Preparation:

1. Prepare the filling: Heat ghee in a pan and add grated coconut and fry it on low flame for 2-3 minutes. Now add jaggery and let it melt. Add cardamom powder and poppy seeds and mix the mixture well. When the jaggery and coconut mixture thickens, turn off the gas. Keep it aside to cool.

2. Prepare the outer layer: Boil water in a pan and add a pinch of salt and 1 tsp ghee to it. When the water starts boiling, add rice flour to it and mix well. Reduce the flame, cover it and let it cook for 2-3 minutes. Now transfer the dough to a bowl and let it cool a bit so that it can be kneaded easily. Apply a little ghee while kneading so that the dough becomes soft.

3. Make modaks: Now make small balls of rice flour and press them in the middle with your hands to give them the shape of a small bowl. Place the prepared coconut and jaggery filling inside it. Join the edges and give them the shape of modaks.

4. Steam: Once all the modaks are ready, place them in a steamer and steam them for 10-12 minutes. When the modaks start shining, understand that they are ready.

5. Offer: Offer the prepared modaks to Lord Ganesha and enjoy this delicious prasad with family.

Suggestion:

– If you want a little twist to Modak, then you can also add dry fruits to its filling.

– If you do not want to make modaks from rice flour, then modaks made from mawa can also be a great option.

Making modaks on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi not only brings blessings of Lord Ganesha but is also a lovely occasion to bring the whole family together. Modaks made with this recipe are not only delicious to eat but are also good for health. This time on Ganesh Chaturthi, make modaks at home and please Lord Ganesha.
