A traditional and nutritious dish

Dal Fara is a traditional and delicious dish of North India, which is especially made in the areas of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Chhattisgarh. This recipe is especially famous among those who are fond of light, nutritious and healthy food. Dal Fara is mainly made from gram lentils and rice flour and is cooked by boiling or steaming, which makes it beneficial for health. You can eat it with chutney or curd.

Material:

– Gram lentils – 1 cup (soaked)

– Rice flour – 1 cup

– Ginger – 1 inch piece

– Garlic cloves – 4-5

Green chillies – 2-3 (according to taste)

– Turmeric powder – 1/2 teaspoon

– Salt – to taste

– Green coriander – finely chopped

– Oil – 1 teaspoon (for tempering)

– Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon

Method:

1. Preparation of lentils:

– First of all soak gram lentils for 3-4 hours.

– After soaking, grind it coarsely in a mixer along with ginger, garlic and green chillies. Do not grind it too finely so that its texture remains intact.

– Add turmeric and salt to this paste and mix it well.

2. Kneading the Rice Dough:

– Take rice flour in a vessel, add some salt and lukewarm water and knead soft dough. This dough should be like roti dough. Keep it covered for 15-20 minutes so that it sets.

3. Making the Fara:

– Now make small balls of rice flour and roll them to give them the shape of small puris.

– Place the chana dal mixture in the centre of each puri and fold the edges to seal it well. It should be completely closed so that the mixture does not spill out.

4. Boiling process:

– Boil water in a large vessel and add a little salt to it.

– Add the prepared faro in boiling water and let it cook on medium flame for 15-20 minutes.

– When a thin layer of oil appears on the fara, then understand that it is cooked. Remove it from the water and let it cool down.

5. Tempering (optional):

– Heat 1 teaspoon oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and let them crackle.

– Now add some salt and green coriander and pour the seasoning over the fare.

How to serve:

– Serve dal farre hot with green chutney or curd. This is a healthy and tasty option which is light and nutritious.

Tips:

– You can also add cheese or other vegetables to make it even more delicious.

– Adding seasoning is completely optional, if you like it without seasoning then you can eat it like that.
