Kane Williamson has landed in India with the New Zealand team to play a one-off Test against Afghanistan. He hailed the best Test batter, Joe Root, who has been in sensational form for a long time.

Root has been hogging the limelight for his performance in the home Test matches against the West Indies and Sri Lanka.

The 33-year-old has hit three centuries and as many fifties in the five games against the Windies and the Island Nation.

Joe has scored 12,390 runs at an average of 50.77. “He (Joe Root) has been something else for a long time. There is a lot of discussion on what he might achieve in the future and it is incredible to see his conversion rate. He has been phenomenal,” Kane Williamson told reporters in Greater Noida.

Kane also hailed the other two members (Virat Kohli and Steve Smith) of the Fab 4.

“I am a big fan of Joe Root, but the other guys have also done well. They have taken the game forward in a big way,” he added.

Williamson has managed 8,743 Test runs at an average of 54.98, laced with 32 tons in 100 contests.

After a Test against Afghanistan, New Zealand will travel to Sri Lanka for two five-day games. The team will then return to India for three red-ball games against the Rohit Sharma-led team.
