Mumbai: Rishi Panchami is an important day for Hindus, particularly married women, who observe the Rishi Panchami 2024 Vrat Puja to seek blessings from the Saptarishis—Kashyap, Atri, Bharadwaj, Vashistha, Gautam, Jamadagni, and Vishwamitra. These seven sages are revered as the embodiment of Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh and are believed to bless women with progeny and prosperity in their married lives.

The Rishi Panchami Vrat Katha tells the story of a Brahmin family in ancient times whose daughter was cured of her sins by observing this sacred fast. Observing the Rishi Panchami Vrat not only cleanses one from sins committed knowingly or unknowingly but also promotes peace and happiness in life.
