The process of India winning medals in Paris Paralympics continues. This grand event of sports will end on 8th September, but a day before that, on Saturday 7th September, India won another gold medal. With this, India now has 7 gold medals. This feat was achieved by Navdeep Singh in the Men's Javelin Throw F41 category. He is the first player to win a medal in this category. Athletes with short height participate in this category. Neeraj Chopra could not win gold in Paris, but Navdeep, who considers him as his source of inspiration, has created history by winning this gold amidst taunts from the society. The journey to reach this point of success has been full of difficulties for this 4 foot 4 inch Haryana player.

It is difficult to leave the house due to low height

23-year-old Navdeep threw 47.32 meters in his third attempt, but Iran's athlete Sadegh Bet Sayah won the gold by throwing 47.64 meters. However, after the event, he was disqualified for violating the rules of the Paralympics and Navdeep's silver was upgraded to gold. This made Navdeep very happy. This success is the result of his passion, because Navdeep, who grew up in Buana Lakhu village of Haryana, was a victim of dwarfism since childhood. The children in the neighborhood used to taunt him by calling him a "dwarf". Due to this, it became difficult for him to leave the house.

When Navdeep did this feat, his brother Mandeep Sheoran and mother Mukesh Rani were cheering him. After the match, he revealed in an interview to Indian Express that all the children in the neighborhood used to tease him about his height. This upset Navdeep and he used to lock himself in the room. He would not even come out of the house for many days, but from 2012 this picture started changing slowly. Actually, in 2012 Navdeep was awarded the National Child Award and this increased his confidence.
