Patna (Bihar) [India], September 13 (ANI): Expressing grief over the death of CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, Independent MP from Bihar's Purnia Pappu Yadav said that it's not good - neither for the country nor for humanity.
"It's not good, neither for the country nor for humanity, that good people die early. He was a symbol of social justice, social and economic revolution and struggle. Fewer people are left with such ideas - and it weakens the voice of the poor," Yadav told ANI on Thursday.
Meanwhile, JDU leader Neeraj Kumar also expressed grief and said the demise of Sitaram Yechury is a big loss to the national politics.
"The demise of Sitaram Yechury is not only a loss to the ideological struggle of national politics, but he was such a personality who reflected on behalf of the country on international forums and was considered a reflection of the ideological struggle. At the same time, he played an effective role in the democratic way of reaching consensus amidst disagreement...This is a loss for everyone," Kumar said.

Condolences from the political circle poured in for the 72-year-old as he breathed his last at the AIIMS hospital in Delhi on Thursday.

Condoling the death of CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the veteran leader a "leading light of the left."

In a post on X, PM Modi said that Yechury had the ability to connect across the political spectrum and he made a mark as an effective parliamentarian.

"Saddened by the passing away of Sitaram Yechury Ji. He was a leading light of the Left and was known for his ability to connect across the political spectrum. He also made a mark as an effective parliamentarian. My thoughts are with his family and admirers in this sad hour. Om Shanti," the Prime Minister wrote on X.

President Droupadi Murmu also expressed grief and said that the CPI(M) General Secretary had a distinct and influential voice.

"Saddened to learn about the demise of CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury. First as a student leader and then in national politics and as a parliamentarian, he had a distinct and influential voice. Though a committed ideologue, he won friends cutting across the party lines. My heartfelt condolences to his family and colleagues," President wrote on X. (ANI)
