Dreaming is simple but achieving great things in life is difficult. Once turned down for roles in movies due to his appearance he is now one of Indias most beloved stars. No points for guessing! Vijay Varma began his acting career in theatre in Hyderabad. He then relocated to Pune to attend FTIIs official acting program. Following his graduation he relocated to Mumbai and got his break with the critically acclaimed short film Shor which took home the Best Short Film prize at the MIAAC festival in New York. He was also in the critically acclaimed movie Pink which starred Taapsee Pannu and Amitabh Bachchan. Do you remember the 2018 Netflix series Sacred Games? The show marked the beginning of a new era for the OTT sector in the country. Vijay Varma was abruptly removed from Anurag Kashyaps Sacred Games. He recently reflected on his career in an interview with Indian Express saying he had offers after Gully Boy. Casting directors did believe in me but I was not given a chance for a long long time. In some auditions I was on the waitlist in top five top two and then I was locked and then I was dropped! I was locked in Sacred Games I did my costume measurements and then I got dropped. Stuff like that has happened but some part of me kept the faith and belief. Work started coming in after Gully Boy but I think I was so starved for work that I took a lot of it after the film he said. He also mentioned how after collaborating with Alia Bhatt on Darlings he felt like he was being stuck in negative roles. He gave credit to Anubhav Sinha (IC 814) Homi Adajania (Murder Mubarak) and Sujoy Ghosh (Jaane Jaan) for their assistance in breaking through his shell. The industry works in mysterious ways when they see potential in you they also want to give you the chance to tap on the other side of you. I didn’t break any stereotypes because I didn’t make any stereotypes. They made it they broke it he added. When Vijay Varma ran from his home Vijay Varma stated in an interview that he ran away from home because of problems with his father and didnt talk to him for seven or eight years. During a conversation with Film Companion being the youngest in the family he said that he was the spoilt one. The Gully Boy actor wanted to avoid working with his father but his father urged him to join the company. Thats how the argument began and Vijay was defending his stand while his father was certain about his own. It went on for years until I decided I don’t think this man wants what is good for me then I ran away from home and then there were 7-8 years of no talking he expressed. During an interview with News 18 Vijay Varma talked about how he was turned down for a movie because the involved astrologer didnt like his photos. He disclosed that he was asked to submit certain photos after being chosen for a role. Following that Varma was fired from the movie and he thought this was because an astrologer named Jyotish did not like his pictures. IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack (2024)  Murder Mubarak (2024) Pink (2016) Middle-Class Abbayi (2017) Gully Boy (2019) and Baaghi 3 (2020) are among the films Vijay Varma is known for.
