Bengaluru: After a young EY (Ernst & Young) employee died, allegedly due to extreme work pressure, a former EY Bengaluru worker has come forward to share her distressing experiences from six years ago. The death of Anna Sebastian Perayil, reportedly linked to work-related stress, has ignited conversations about the challenging work environment at major consulting firms. The former employee, who is now a freelance content writer, took to LinkedIn to recount how the demanding culture at EY significantly impacted her mental health. She described the pressures she faced during her time at the firm, shedding light on the harsh realities many workers encounter in such high-pressure environments. In a detailed post on LinkedIn she wrote, ''Six years back I got my first offer letter from EY It was a dream for me to get placed (off campus ) in a Big4 immediately after graduating. I was excited to move to Bengaluru for work, as a girl who wasn’t away from her home not even once everything seems to be dream come true moment but within few months I realised I was in a toxic work environment which took a toll on my food, sleep and mental health. ''She further said, ''When I took the decision of quitting EY, I was heavily criticised and was called immature, homesick, even lazy and incapable of keeping up with the demands of corporate work environment. It was a tough decision but it was necessary for my health that day.''In the later part of the post she wrote, ''But today after hearing the tragic loss of a young professional at EY. I realised that hearing to the voice of our inner self and taking some hardest decision is always better than sacrifice one self. Let’s advocate for workplaces that prioritize mental well-being and create supportive environments. Remember, your life is far more valuable than any job title.''
