Whenever the World Health Organization (WHO) releases a report, it states that the trend of having sex without condoms has increased in India. It also states in which states condoms are used more. The report says that now the use of condoms during sex is decreasing as compared to earlier. The health department is also constantly making people aware about the use of condoms. But still its use is decreasing. In such a situation, let us know which are the states where condoms are used the most.
A survey was conducted by the National Family Health Department (2021-22). The survey also found that Dadra Nagar Haveli is the only place in India where people understand the importance of condoms and more people buy condoms here than any other state in India. After this comes the name of Andhra Pradesh. From where most people buy condoms.
It is estimated that out of 10 thousand couples in Darda Nagar Haveli, 993 couples use condoms during intercourse. After this, other states were also surveyed, in which 10 thousand couples of different age groups of each state were talked to. Andhra Pradesh comes second. Where 978 out of 10 thousand couples use condoms. While Karnataka is ranked 15th. In this state, out of 10 thousand couples, only 307 couples use condoms.
In the same report, it is told that 6% people in India do not know about condoms. Only 94% people know about condoms. On an average, 33.07 crore condoms are purchased every year in India. If we talk about the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, then 5.3 crore condoms are consumed here every year.
This figure is much higher than other states. By the end of 2024, the population of UP is expected to cross 22 crores. Condoms are sold free of cost in the health centers and government hospitals here. But according to the survey, the use of condoms is now decreasing. Where only 960 couples out of 10,000 in Puducherry, 895 in Punjab, 822 in Chandigarh, 685 couples in Haryana use condoms during sex. Along with this, 567 people in Himachal Pradesh, 514 in Rajasthan and 430 people in Gujarat use condoms.
