Causes Of Brain Stroke: The danger of brain stroke is now present in the air as well. This claim made in the Lancet study is scary. Now you will have to be careful even while breathing.

A study recently published in The Lancet has identified a shocking link between air pollution and brain stroke. According to the study, the effect of air pollution is similar to that of smoking, and it can become a major cause of brain stroke.

An international team of scientists from India, America, New Zealand, Brazil, and UAE participated in this research. The study makes it clear that small solid and liquid particles present in the air, which are the main part of air pollution, increase the risk of stroke.

Brain strokes on the rise

The findings of the study suggest that air pollution has contributed significantly to the increase in stroke cases and deaths over the past three decades. In 2021, the number of people affected by new strokes exceeded one crore, which is a 70 percent increase since 1990. At the same time, the number of deaths due to stroke has exceeded 70 lakhs, which has seen an increase of 44 percent.

These factors are responsible for brain stroke.

According to this study, 23 risk factors responsible for stroke have been identified. These include high blood pressure , particulate matter air pollution, smoking, high cholesterol and indoor air pollution. Dr. Katherine O. Johnson of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington said that by avoiding these factors, the risk of brain stroke can be reduced by 84 percent.

Solutions and suggestions

Dr. Johnson, co-author of the study, has suggested that measures such as clean air zones and public smoking bans should be implemented to protect public health. He also pointed out the need to focus on obesity and metabolic disorders.
