India will likely hand Bangladesh a crushing loss in the first Test match at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium. The Tigers won the series 2-0 after an outstanding performance in Pakistan. They arrived in India with great expectations of pulling off an upset, but they soon had a harsh awakening. India managed to post a total of 376 after Bangladesh had them reeling at 144/6 in the first innings, with Ashwin batting 113 and Ravindra Jadeja making 86.

The Tigers crumbled for 149 because Jasprit Bumrah was too hot to handle at the bat. Big guns like Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Litton Das were required to keep Bangladesh competitive, but they were all unable to have a major effect in the first innings, which caused Bangladesh to fall behind greatly in the Test.

With his versatility, Shakib is one of Bangladesh’s key players; therefore, he would be dissatisfied with the way the game went for him. In the first inning, Shakib bowled only eight overs and gave up fifty runs. 32 runs were scored by him at bat. In order to make apologies, Shakib will now want to play a solid knock in the second innings and maybe force a draw for Bangladesh.

History Is Made by Shakib Al Hasan

Day 3 of the Test match saw Shakib Al Hasan make history in the meantime. Being a Test cricket player, Shakib became the oldest Bangladeshi ever. Former left-arm spinner Mohammad Rafique, who was 37 years and 180 days old when he played his last Test match against South Africa in Chattogram in 2008, was eclipsed by Shakib, who is now 37 years and 181 days old. Wilfred Rhodes of England is the oldest cricket player to have played in a Test match.

When the England cricketer played his last Test match at Kingston against the West Indies in 1930, he was 52 years and 165 days older.
