Man-Eating Leopard Terrorizes Village; Army Joins Search

Udaipur : A man-eating leopard has instilled terror in three villages under Gogunda Gram Panchayat, located 45 km from Udaipur. Having claimed three lives, the leopard has forced residents to stay indoors, venturing out only in groups for essential needs. Both the Forest Department and the Army have launched a search operation.

Despite a night-long surveillance using night vision equipment on three locations on September 19th, the leopard remains elusive. A team from Bhaskar visited the villages affected by the attacks and spoke to the victims’ families. They also explored the jungle where the leopard has been spotted.

Victims of the Leopard Attacks:

  • Kamala (16), a resident of Undithal village, was grazing her goats in the forest on the morning of September 19th when she was attacked and killed. Her body, with injuries to her face and hands, was found in the bushes.
  • Khumaram Gameti (45), from Bhevdia village, was attacked by the leopard on the evening of September 19th.
  • A woman from Malaria Khurd village was attacked on the morning of September 20th but managed to escape.
  • Another woman from Umaria village was attacked on the evening of September 20th.
  • Army Joins the Search: The Forest Department and the Army have joined forces to track down the man-eating leopard. Senior officials from the Forest Department have set up camp near the forest. A team, led by Captain Sandeep Chaudhary, has been stationed in Chali village since the night of September 20th.
