Ration Card Rules: 13 thousand ration cards cancelled on filing ITR in UP. If you have also filed ITR, then your ration card can also be cancelled. How can you avoid this? Let us tell you.

Ration Card Rules: The central government runs many schemes for the citizens of the country. There are different types of schemes for different people. The Government of India provides ration at low price and free of cost to the poor and needy people under the National Food Security Act. For which these people need a ration card.

Without this, the benefit of the government's free ration scheme cannot be availed. The supply department recently issued a notification for e-KYC for ration card holders. The last date for which is 30 September. After that people's ration cards will be cancelled. Apart from this, if you file ITR, then also the ration card can be cancelled. How can you avoid this? Let us tell you.

Ration card cancelled after filing ITR

Recently many ration cards were cancelled in Ghaziabad. Actually these card holders were in the income tax category. Due to this about 13000 ration cards were cancelled. Many of these ration card holders are now giving affidavits that they are not income tax payers. They had taken loans for children's education, for bike and for some other things. Due to which they had to file ITR. Their income is less than 3 lakhs. Therefore their ration cards should not be cancelled. So many people have said that they have neither paid income tax nor filed ITR. They do not know how their name came in this list.

This is how you can escape from this difficulty

Actually, the District Supply Department had prepared a list of ration card holders who filed income tax returns. In which all these ration card holders were re-verified. There were 26930 people in the list. Out of them, 16271 were ineligible. Out of these, ration of 13000 people has been cancelled. Only 1036 people have been found eligible.

The government has set some criteria for making a ration card. In which the annual income of people living in rural areas should not be more than Rs 2 lakh. Whereas the income of people living in urban areas should not be more than Rs 3 lakh.

If you live in an urban area and your income is less than Rs 3 lakh and you have filed income tax return for some reason, then you need not worry. You can go to the District Supply Department and submit an affidavit in which you can explain the reason for filing income tax return and you can also submit your income certificate again.
