In Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, a wife married another man without divorcing her first husband. They had a daughter. But she continued to receive alimony from her first husband. When the first husband came to know about this, he went to court. He presented evidence in court, which also included a government scheme. After that, the court changed its earlier decision to pay alimony to the first husband.
While giving the verdict, the family court said- It is a legal crime to marry a second time without divorcing the first husband and to continue taking alimony from him without informing anyone about it. Earlier we had given a verdict in favour of the woman that the first husband will continue to give her alimony. But the woman got married a second time without informing anyone. She also had a daughter. Still she continued taking alimony from the first husband. Therefore, now her alimony is stopped.
The husband continued to pay alimony till 2022
According to the information, Sandeep (37), a resident of Bariyakhedi in Sehore district, had filed an application in the family court against his wife Sonu and her second husband Narendra, resident of Kirar Mohalla village Rasidpura (Mokalgaon) Tehsil- Pandhana. Sandeep said- I have been giving Sonu alimony of Rs 2500 per month since 12 December 2018. At the same time, without getting a proper divorce, she got married to Narendra Pyarelal in February 2020. A daughter was born from their marital relationship on 26 November 2022. Whose name is Kumari Bhavika Kirar.
16 installments were recovered
Sandeep alleged that even though his wife was not around, 16 installments of Rs 2500 per month were collected from him. By the time Sonu married Narendra Pyarelal on 12 February 2020, Rs 51,250 had already been paid. Whereas only Rs 35,000 had to be paid to her. After the second marriage, Sonu gave birth to a daughter. Sonu got her daughter registered in the Women and Child Development Department and started taking advantage of Ladli Laxmi. She herself is also taking advantage of the Ladli Behan Yojana.
