In the Bundesliga, Bayer Leverkusen came back from down twice to defeat Wolfsburg 4-3, moving them up to second place.

Leverkusen had a strong start, but before eight minutes they were down when defender Nordi Mukiele misdirected a dangerous header from Mohammed Amoura into the goal.

After Wolfsburg failed to clear the ball out of their area, Granit Xhaka found Florian Wirtz, who curled the ball into the bottom left-hand corner from the outside of the box, and the Werkself replied strongly, equalizing six minutes later, according to Xinhua.

As the game went on, the reigning champs started to have the upper hand, while the Wolves kept waiting for a response.

At the half-hour mark, Kamil Grabara stopped Patrick Schick and Wirtz in quick succession, then Amoura missed a clear opportunity. Both goalkeepers were quite busy.

A few seconds later, Jonathan Tah headed home Alejandro Grimaldo’s corner to complete the home team’s comeback, making it 2-1.

But Sebastian Bornauw’s header tied the score in the 37th minute, and Matthias Svanberg’s 18-meter effort gave the Wolves a 3-2 lead at the end of the half, ending Leverkusen’s advantage.

Four minutes into the second half, Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso responded by substituting Piero Hincapie, who had an instant impact and tied the score at three.

After a crude tackle on Jeremie Frimpong in the 88th minute, Yannick Gerhardt was given a straight red card. Three minutes later, Xhaka’s long-range effort struck the left post.

When a deflected ball dropped in front of Viktor Boniface, who twisted on his axis with incredible skill to sneak in the 4-3 winner in stoppage time, Leverkusen got the last laugh.
