British rock band Coldplay has added a third show to the Mumbai leg of its "Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025," yet all three shows sold out quickly on the BookMyShow platform. Despite the addition, many fans were left disappointed as tickets vanished rapidly. Some fans also reported seeing tickets being sold at inflated prices on other platforms, sparking concern over ticket scalping.

BookMyShow, the official ticketing platform for Coldplay’s India tour, issued a warning to fans about unauthorised platforms selling fake tickets. The platform emphasized that scalping is illegal in India and that tickets bought from unauthorized sources would be invalid. They urged fans to be cautious and only purchase tickets through the official channels, reminding them to avoid scams.

"I wasn't able to because some people or agencies decided to profit off the passion and love we have for your music. It's truly heartbreaking because I know so many people who are true fans of your music, didn't end up getting anything. People who can't probably afford to pay the 25x price that the tickets are now being sold at blatantly," said a disappointed Coldplay fan.

The third Coldplay show is scheduled for January 21, 2025, at Mumbai's DY Patil Sports Stadium, and tickets for this new date went live on Sunday. However, many fans expressed frustration over long virtual queues on the BookMyShow platform, and several reported that the website and app crashed due to high traffic. The overwhelming demand led to hashtags like "Coldplay," "BookMyShow," and "Crashed" trending on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), as fans vented their disappointment.

Coldplay had initially announced two shows in Mumbai for January 18 and 19, 2025. The addition of the third show came as a response to the immense demand. A spokesperson for BookMyShow described this as a "landmark moment" in India’s live entertainment history, highlighting the massive fan response for Coldplay’s tour. The spokesperson revealed that 1.3 crore fans logged in on Sunday to secure tickets.

To manage the high demand, BookMyShow implemented a queueing system to handle the surge in traffic. The ticket prices for the Coldplay concerts range from Rs 2,500 to Rs 12,500, with VIP lounge tickets priced at Rs 35,000. Despite the higher prices, the concerts were sold out almost instantly, reflecting the strong fanbase Coldplay enjoys in India.

For those fans who managed to secure tickets, it’s a dream come true. However, many fans who missed out expressed disappointment. Coldplay’s upcoming tour will be their first visit to India in eight years, with their last performance in Mumbai being at the Global Citizen Festival in 2016. The "Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025" will begin on October 30, 2024, in Melbourne, Australia, and will conclude on August 31, 2025, at Wembley Stadium in London.

With Coldplay’s immense popularity and their highly anticipated return to India, the concerts are shaping up to be one of the most talked-about events of the year.
