Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has extended the deadline for residents of Noida to apply for 12-hour free power supply for private tubewell connections, so residents have until September 30 to do so. The authority had originally set August 16 as the deadline, but an extension was chosen in order to link as many individuals as possible to the program. To that end, camps are being erected in many of Gautam Buddh Nagar’s villages. The municipal government anticipates a rise in the number of applications for free water connections, which will eventually increase the amount of money generated in rural regions.

This action was performed in accordance with a July 30 direction from Dr. Ashish Goel, the chairman of the UPPCL. The goal of the decision was to guarantee a continuous electricity supply for 24 hours at the district level in urban areas, 18 hours in rural regions (villages), and 9.5 hours at the tehsil level. Farmers who have private tubewell connections will also get free electricity for 12 hours.

“Camps are being held in various villages of GB Nagar district linked to the 33/11 kV substations at Kot, Luharli, and NTPC Road, Dadri, in order to make this happen and register new connections under the scheme while improving revenue collection in rural areas,” stated Praveen Kumar Singh, executive engineer of the Noida power department, Circle 4, PVVNL.

The chief zonal engineer of PVVNL’s Noida electricity department, Harish Bansal, noted that only customers who have unpaid payments to the discom are eligible to apply for the plan.

Due to persistent water problems that have lasted for many days, residents in Sector 51 in Noida have resorted to using submersible pumps. The inhabitants of Noida Authority reported that they had not received water for four days in a row, the day after RWAs and CEO Lokesh M met to address different municipal issues. They then turned to submersible pumps, even though it was against the law.

The locals observed that while the CEO had given the authorities orders to address the problem with the water supply in the impacted region, nothing had been done as of yet. “The fourth day that there has been a water deficit in our region was Friday. The locals are furious because there is no water supply. According to TOI, Sanjeev Kumar, the RWA general secretary of Blocks C to F in Sector 51, described the scene as chaotic.
