“The All India Football Federation (AIFF) President, Shri Kalyan Chaubey, and I got the chance to interact. We spoke about how football is growing in our state and looked at several projects that can improve prospects for future football players,” he wrote on X.

“I also gave him a briefing on our local club culture, highlighting the value of grassroots football in developing and advancing the next generation of players. In response, Shri Chaubey expressed gratitude for our methods of promoting football, the “beautiful game,” and promised the association’s complete support.

The Chief Minister emphasized the need for investing in emerging talent to boost the state’s football ecosystem and the growing popularity of club football in Sikkim.

Sikkim has long been a gathering place for football fans because of its rich football heritage, which includes producing stars like Bhaichung Bhutia. The state is keen to carry on this tradition. With the AIFF’s support, the meeting is a big step toward developing football in Sikkim and should open up new doors for local clubs and players.
