Bengal floods, Mukesh Tiwari: In West Bengal's East Burdwan district, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held an important meeting with district administration officials at the DM's office. Speaking after the meeting, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said crop insurance would be provided to rain-affected farmers, as many areas have been hit hard by the floods. Many crops have been destroyed. Farmers are paid crop insurance based on the number of acres of land destroyed. The crop has suffered major damage. Naturally, farmers' worries have increased. In this context, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee personally visited the flood-affected areas in East Burdwan district today and gave a message of support to the victims. He said crop insurance will be given to rain-affected farmers. He said that houses will be provided to the homeless and action will be taken after surveying the people whose houses collapsed. They also get compensation. He directed the government officials to act proactively in the flood situation. The Chief Minister attacked the central government saying that it rained on one side and TVC was giving water on the other side. Due to the combination of the two, several districts of Bengal were affected by floods. This includes many constituencies of East Burdwan district. In the executive meeting, the chief minister complained that 'floods are caused by the centre, but the embankments are broken, so all the work should be completed by the Durga Puja holidays'. Apart from this, the Chief Minister has ordered the immediate repair of flood-damaged roads and katsa houses in various parts of the state.
