Politics has heated up once again in Uttar Pradesh over encounters. UP STF on Monday killed another criminal in the Sultanpur robbery case. The accused killed by STF is named Anuj Singh. Immediately after the encounter, the ruling party came into the field to show the mirror to the opposition. This is because when Mangesh Yadav was killed in an encounter in this case, former CM Akhilesh Yadav himself came into the field and raised questions. He also accused the Yogi government of doing encounters based on caste. This time the matter is the opposite because Anuj Singh belonged to Thakur caste.
The opposition had claimed that Mangesh Yadav was killed in an encounter only because he was a Yadav. Now, when the encounter of Anuj Singh, an accused belonging to Rajput caste, took place, the ruling party has asked the opposition, especially Akhilesh Yadav, whether they will still say the same thing that encounters happen in UP on the basis of caste? When questions were raised, Akhilesh Yadav also responded through a social media post.
CM Yogi, who reached Mirzapur after the encounter, said that this is the new Uttar Pradesh of the new India. There is security as well as respect here. No one can breach the security of a daughter. If someone does so, he will have to suffer the consequences. No one can occupy a farmer's land. No one can dare to destroy a poor person's hut. If someone does so, he will have to suffer the consequences.
Akhilesh Yadav said that the weakest people consider encounters as their strength. Any fake encounter is injustice. Tarnishing the image of Uttar Pradesh with violence and blood is a big conspiracy against the future of Uttar Pradesh. Those who have no future of their own, spoil the future. In the end, Akhilesh has called the encounter condemnable.
However, even after condemning the encounter of Anuj Singh, the attacks on Akhilesh Yadav have not decreased, different ministers of the UP government kept making sharp statements on Akhilesh Yadav throughout the day with statistics. UP government minister Om Prakash Rajbhar has said that 67 Muslims, 20 Brahmins, 18 Thakurs, Jats and Gurjars were killed, Akhilesh ji should see this.
At the same time, BJP's state president Bhupendra Chaudhary said that Akhilesh Yadav looks for caste even in criminals. Our government works according to the law. While Faizabad MP Awadhesh Prasad said that it is a miracle in Baba Ji's rule that robbery, theft and dacoity happen in broad daylight.
Talking about the robbery in Sultanpur Jewellery Shop, 14 criminals were involved in the gang that carried out the robbery. Out of these, two criminals have been killed in an encounter so far while 9 have been arrested. Those who were killed in an encounter include Mangesh Yadav and Anuj Singh. Apart from these, three criminals are still absconding, for whose arrest different police teams are working.
Although UP is at the second place in the number of encounters, but Uttar Pradesh is far ahead in the encounters on which questions have been raised. According to the Home Ministry, 655 encounters took place in the country in the last 5 years between 2017 and 2022. The maximum number of encounters, 191, took place in Chhattisgarh. Uttar Pradesh is at the second place where 117 encounters took place in 5 years. There have been very few or no encounters in the remaining states.
The Supreme Court has already set guidelines regarding encounters in the country. Investigation of encounters is mandatory in the guidelines. Magisterial investigation has been made mandatory in the 16 points mentioned in the court's guidelines. Its purpose is to stop fake encounters and bring out the truth of such cases. In such a situation, now there will be a magisterial investigation of this encounter as well.
