Pushpa producerRavi Shankar has dismissed speculations around superstar Allu Arjun and filmmaker Sukumar's involvement in choreographer Jani Master's sexual assault case.42-year-oldShaik Jani Basha, also known as Jani Master, was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act for allegedly assaulting a woman when she was still a minor.
Ravi Shankar was promoting the Telugu film,Mathu Vadalara 2, in Hyderabad when he was asked about Allu Arjun and Sukumar's names being brought up in the . When asked if Sukumar and Arjun had promised professional support to the alleged victim, Ravi responded, "Whatever happened between the girl and Jani Master is personal to them. She was hired long back as an additional choreographer for our film and will remain throughout the filmmaking process. Jani Master was supposed to choreograph a special number for Pushpa 2, but this happened two days before we planned it." He mentioned that given Arjun's stature, he wouldn't take sides or offer professional favours to anyone.Ravi said, "Hero (Allu Arjun) isn't bothered about who's on set other than wishing them good morning and following the steps he's given. He has unnecessarily been dragged into it. For his stature, why would he stop someone from working or promote someone else? We are all only professionally aligned to both of them." Allu Arjun and Sukumar's names were dragged into the matter when actor Jhansi, on behalf of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, spoke to the press last week. "I want to assure that the Telugu film industry stands united on this issue. It might seem like no one is speaking up for her publicly, but she has been assured work by a big director, at least two producers, and a big hero behind the scenes. The industry will always support talent," she said. That's when it was assumed that Jhansi was talking about the superstar and the filmmaker. According to our sources, the police have confirmed that .The police report reveals that Jani has been charged under Sections 376(2) (punishment for sexual assault), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), along with provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. He is currently in 14-day judicial custody, after being arrested in Goa on September 19, 2024.
